Bio
With more than 18 years of experience in the regulation of harps, Billy Yaros is recognized as one of the world's foremost harp technicians. He commenced his musical studies in trumpet and piano at the age of 11 and subsequently played in various orchestras during his high school years. This passion for music led him to pursue a degree in Sound Engineering at Columbia College Chicago. Upon graduation, he embarked on his professional technician career at Lyon & Healy Harps in 2006, where he received training from Jason Azem and John Papadolias in the intricacies of harp assembly and regulation. In 2007, he began traveling and regulating harps for L&H in various cities throughout the United States and Mexico. In 2012, he was promoted to manage the harp factory located in Shanghai, China, where he traveled throughout Asia for the next four years, working in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and the Philippines.
In 2015, Billy returned to the L&H factory in Chicago, continuing his work in harp regulation and traveling to various cities in the United States and South America to perform harp regulations and work at various events such as harp competitions and Harptaculars. His dedication and expertise led to his promotion as the Production Manager of the Assembly, Regulation, Paint, and Gilding Departments. Additionally, he was honored with an appointment to the Board of the Lyon & Healy/Salvi Technicians Guild, where he mentored and supported aspiring harp technicians through the harp technician apprentice program. However, in 2023, Billy decided to part ways with Lyon & Healy Harps and pursue an independent career as a harp technician. He is currently based in the Chicagoland area.
